32 New Keyboard Shortcuts in Windows 10

windows-10-keyboard-shortcuts
A new focus on the desktop brings new keyboard shortcuts for desktop users, so rejoice! Here are all the new keyboard shortcuts you need to know in Windows 10.
From window management with Snap and Task View to virtual desktops and the Command Prompt, there are lots of new goodies for keyboard users in Windows 10.

Window Snapping

Windows 10 offers improved support for Snap — known as “Aero Snap” on Windows 7. You can now snap windows vertically — one on top of each other, instead of side-by-side — or snap windows to a 2×2 grid.
  • Windows Key + Left – Snap current window to the left side of the screen.
  • Windows Key + Right – Snap current window the the right side of the screen.
  • Windows Key + Up – Snap current window to the top of the screen.
  • Windows Key + Down – Snap current window to the bottom of the screen.
Combine these shortcuts to snap into a corner — for example, Windows Key + Left and then Windows Key + Up would snap a window into the top-left quadrant of the screen. The first two keyboard shortcuts aren’t new, but the way they work with the 2×2 snapping feature is.
(You can also use the mouse — drag and drop a window to the left or right edges of your screen, or drag and drop them into one of the four corners to snap into quadrants.)

Task View / Window Management

The Task View is a new interface that combined an Exposé-like window switching and virtual desktops — an awful lot like Mission Control on Mac OS X. In addition to clicking the “Task View” button on the taskbar to open it, you can use these keyboard shortcuts:
  • Windows Key + Tab – This opens the new Task View interface, and it stays open — you can release the keys. Only windows from your current virtual desktop will appear in the Task View list, and you can use the virtual desktop switcher at the bottom of the screen to switch between virtual desktops.
  • Alt + Tab – This isn’t a new keyboard shortcut, and it works just like you’d expect it to. Pressing Alt+Tab lets you switch between your open Windows. Tap Tab again to flip between windows and release the keys to select a window. Alt+Tab now uses the new Task View-style larger thumbnails. Unlike Windows Key + Tab, Alt + Tab lets you switch between open windows on all virtual desktops.

There are also some keyboard shortcuts for quickly managing virtual desktops.
  • Windows Key + Ctrl + D – Create a new virtual desktop and switch to it
  • Windows Key + Ctrl + F4 – Close the current virtual desktop.
  • Windows Key + Ctrl + Left / Right – Switch to the virtual desktop on the left or right.
Sadly, there’s not yet a key combination that will move the current window between virtual desktops. How about Windows Key + Shift + Ctrl + Left / Right — please, Microsoft?

Selecting Text / Shift Key Shortcuts: Many of the standard Shift key shortcuts for text editing now finally work in the Command Prompt! These include:
  • Shift + Left / Right / Up / Down – Moves the cursor left a character, right a character, up a line, or down a line, selecting the text along the way. Continue pressing arrow keys to select more text.
  • Ctrl + Shift + Left / Right – Moves the cursor one word to the left or right, selecting that word along the way.
  • Shift + Home / End – Moves the cursor to the beginning or end of the current line, selecting text along the way.
  • Shift + Page Up / Page Down – Moves the cursor up or down a screen, selecting text.
  • Ctrl + Shift + Home / End – Moves the cursor to the beginning or end of the “screen buffer,” selecting all text between the cursor and the beginning or end of the Command Prompt’s output.

More Shortcuts
  • Ctrl + Up / Down – Moves one line up or down in the Command Prompt’s history — it’s like using the scroll bar.
  • Ctrl + Page Up / Page Down – Moves one page up or down in the Command Prompt’s history — it’s like scrolling even farther.
  • Ctrl + M – Enter “mark mode,” which helps for selecting text. Previously, the only way to do this was by right-clicking in the Command Prompt and selecting Mark. Thanks to the new Shift key shortcuts, this mode is no longer as important.
  • Ctrl + F – Opens a Find dialog for searching the Command Prompt’s output.
  • Alt + F4 – Closes the Command Prompt window.

Microsoft will hopefully add even more keyboard shortcuts as they continue developing Windows 10. For now, the new keyboard shortcuts are very useful — especially to Command Prompt users!

yo yo

Hirdesh Singh (born 15 March 1983), better known by his stage name Yo Yo Honey Singh or Honey Singh[3] is an Indian rapper, music producer, singer and film actor. He started as a session and recording artist, and became a Bhangra producer. He has also begun to produce music for Bollywood films, and gone on to become one of the highest-paid music producers in Bollywood.[4]

Early life

Singh was born on 15 March 1983 at Hoshiarpur,[5][6] Punjab to a Sikh family.[7][8] His birth name is Hirdesh Singh. He studied music at the Trinity School in the United Kingdom.[9][10] Later on, his family moved to Delhi.[11]

Personal life

Honey Singh is married to Shalini Talwar Singh, whom he introduced to audience for first time on India's Raw Star TV show.[12][13]

Promotion

Honey Singh and Diljit Dosanjh's song Lak 28 Kudi Da reached No 1 in BBC Asian Download Charts in May 2011. The song was released a promotional track for Diljit Dosanjh's film Lion of Punjab.[14]
Honey Singh has received the ETC award for the Best sound in 2006 for his song Glassi and the PTC award for the Best Folk Pop Award 2009 for Rebirth and PTC Punjab Best Music Director 2011.[15]
It has been reported that he has been paid the highest fee ever for a Bollywood song (as of 2012) of 7 million (US$110,000) for a song in the films "Cocktail" and "Mastan".[16]
Yo! Yo! Honey Singh tops the chart of trending videos of 2012.[17] He earns two places on YouTube's list of top 10 trending videos of 2012.[18] His song Brown Rang makes it to top spot and High Heels, in collaboration with Jaz Dhami, takes fourth spot.[19]

Career

It is reported that Honey Singh prefers to sing in his native language Punjabi and Hindi rather than English.[20] The Punjabi album International Villager was released on 11 November 2011.[21] The track "Gabru" from International Villager featuring singer J-Star topped Asian music charts (including the official BBC Asian charts).[22]
He has performed at many college festivals including at Ansal Institute of Technology and Ramjas College, Delhi.[23] He learned DJing from DJ Vishal and stood second in "War of DJs".[citation needed]

Bollywood

Honey Singh has also become widely popular in Bollywood. He was first noticed after his debut song in a Bollywood film featuring Gagan Sidhu for the film Shakal Pe Mat Ja. He has also charged Rs. 7 million for a song in an upcoming film titled Mastaan starring Naseeruddin Shah. It is the biggest amount paid to a song artist in Bollywood to date, making Honey Singh one of the highest-paid musical artist in Bollywood.[24][25]
Also, a song named Angreji Beat from Honey Singh's album International Villager featuring Gippy Grewal, was featured in Saif Ali Khan's film Cocktail.
Singh, also launched his single track "Bring Me Back ft. Spoken Word" at Video Music Awards India which aired on MTV India. The award show was packed with many films and independent artists throughout the world including India. After the end of the show, his song was also premiered at the channel.
He rose to strong fame and high popularity in Bollywood in late 2013, after producing songs in mainstream big-budget films such as Chennai Express and Boss. He also has popular songs in smaller-budget films such as Mere Dad Ki MarutiBajatey Raho & Fugly. In late 2014, Honey Singh suddenly disappeared from Bollywood and didn't release any music for months. Many theories rose about his sudden disappearance, but the majority were fake.[citation needed]
After being absent in the Bollywood music scene around the end of 2014, Singh made a comeback in February 2015 with his first song of the year, "Birthday Bash".

Acting

Honey Singh made his acting debut with Baljit Singh Deo's Punjabi film Mirza - The Untold Story (2012), performing the role of Deesha, a mad gangster. Despite only being a cameo appearance, the role went on to win Singh PTC Punjabi Film Award for Best Male Debut. The following year, Singh appeared in another Punjabi film, this time a comedy film by Amit PrasherTu Mera 22 Main Tera 22, as Rolly, a childish and spoilt brat, alongside Amrinder Gill. This was Singh's first lead role as an actor in a film.
Singh has also started acting in Bollywood films, making his debut with the 2014 musical-thriller film The Xpose alongside Himesh Reshammiya. The film released on 16 May 2014, to mixed reviews from critics, though became a box office flop. After a failed Bollywood acting debut, Honey Singh will be returning to Punjabi cinema in mid 2015, with the action film Zorawar, directed by Vinnil Markan.

Controversies

In the aftermath of the 2012 Delhi gang rape case, the lyrics to some of his songs, which depict violence against women and rape positively have caused controversy.[26] An FIR was lodged against rapper Honey Singh for his offensive lyrics while a group of social activists filed an online petition demanding cancellation of his New Year performance at aGurgaon hotel.[27] After the campaign, Singh's New Year concert was cancelled by the hotel.[28] Honey Singh denies writing these offensive lyrics.[29]
On 4 July 2013, Punjab and Haryana High court dismissed all the cases filed against Yo Yo Honey Singh, which said that he has sung the Balatkaari song. The FIR and the PIL filed against him were dismissed completely by the court stating that there is no proof that he has sung the song and that YouTube is such a medium where any one can upload any content under anyone's name. In this case also, a derogatory song against women was uploaded on YouTube under Yo Yo Honey Singh's name by an imposter and then reports were filed against him.[citation needed]
Honey Singh's song "Party All Night" in Akshay Kumar's film Boss was at the centre of controversy. Producers of the movie had to submit a petition in Delhi High Court claiming that they have 'muted' the alleged vulgar word in Honey Singh's song. The court was hearing a petition filed by lawyer Sanjay Bhatnagar seeking a stay on the film, contending that without censor board's approval, the song could not be released with such a vulgar word. The petitioner had sought a stay on the release of the film till either the word or the song is deleted from the film. Akshay Kumar, however, does not think the allegation holds any value. Kumar opined "They must have heard it wrongly. The blame lies on those who heard it wrong, not us."[30]
Another controversy took place between him and Raftaar in 2014. The controversy was of about Raftaar, not getting credits for lyrics of the song "Yeh Fugly Fugly Kya Hai".[31]The controversy went away without making a major effect. But both rappers started targeting each other in their songs. Raftaar (Singer)'s "Swag Mera Desi" had a line which was already used in Honey Singh's "Party With The Bhoothnath" song. Honey Singh also replied with song "Stardom" from his album Desi Kalakaar.[citation needed]
